The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Catching Fire is a good book and movie. It is directed by Francis Lawrence. I would give this movie 4 out of 5 stars because it is kind of violent and gruesome. It is PG-13, so I recommend watching it with an adult. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are thrown back into the Hunger Games in the 75th anniversary, also known as a Quarter Quell. Quarter Quells appear every 25 years, and they always have a twist or add-on that is different from a regular Games. This year, they put the past winning tributes to fight against each other. We meet new characters such as Finnick Odair from District 4, Johanna Mason from District 7, Beetee Latier from District 3, and Plutarch Heavensbee, the gamemaker. There are other characters but most of them die. They fight against the Capitol in the Games and in the process, Peeta gets captured. The movie ends with Katniss discovering that her own district was bombed and everyone evacuated. The “destroyed” District 13 is not destroyed, but thriving under the ground. I would say that this movie should be watched by teens and older but some mature tweens might be able to watch it.

100 Word Challenge Week 23

I woke up in an alley. I shook my red fur and stood up. I’m a cat. I walked across the pavement to house next door and pawed the back door. A little girl named June walked up to me and took me inside. She always wanted a cat but her dad said no. So she kept me a secret. June set me down inside the house, near the ladder for decorating the Christmas tree. June told me her father left her some coins so she could play banker with her dolls. June’s father came home happy, but when he saw me his spirit were sinking. They had a long conversation and decided to kick me out. I now live in an alley and fight to survive.

100 Word Challenge Week 21: The Lost Bear

I was just won in a carnival game. My new owner gave me to his daughter, Abby. She took me to eat ice cream, and soft pretzels. Then, her dad came running to the pretzel stand. He told us that there was a huge tornado rolling in. We hurried up and got to the car. It started raining. Abby was scared and upset. She started crying. I wanted to help her but I remembered that I was just a stuffed animal. Her dad’s car parked on the other side of the town. Suddenly, we were swept up in the tornado and rain. Then, I was dropped. I miss my owner. Our time together was short. That’s how I ended up here. I can only hope to see her again. I didn’t even get a name.Â
